Editorial policy
How we research, write, check and update everything on Natural Soap.
Our standards
- We explain ingredients and products in plain English and avoid hype.
- We back factual claims about ingredients, safety and regulation with sources, which we list at the end of each article.
- We prefer primary sources such as government regulators and published research, and we attribute product details to the brand when they come from the brand.
- We never invent sources, studies, quotations, testing, ratings or awards.
Health and skin claims
Soap is for cleansing. We do not claim that any soap treats, cures or prevents a skin condition, and we do not assume that natural ingredients are automatically safer than synthetic ones. Articles are general information, not medical advice. If you have a skin condition, please talk to a doctor or dermatologist.
How we recommend products
Every product we feature is labeled as personally used, based on specifications, or based on manufacturer claims. We record when we last checked each product, and we do not publish exact prices because they change often.
Independence
We may earn commissions from affiliate links, but brands cannot pay for a place in our articles and commissions never decide what we recommend. If we ever publish sponsored content, it will be clearly labeled as sponsored.
Use of AI tools
We sometimes use AI writing tools to help research outlines or prepare first drafts. AI-assisted drafts follow the same process as everything else and cannot be published without approval:
- Draft: the article is written or drafted.
- In review: an editor checks facts against the listed sources and removes unsupported claims.
- Approved: only then can the article be published.
Articles drafted with AI assistance include a note saying so.
Updates and corrections
We review important articles regularly. An article only shows an "Updated" date when its content changed meaningfully, not for small fixes. If you spot an error, please tell us and we will correct it promptly.
